I have decided to go with the restaurant idea. The restaurant which is having the refurbishment is taking longer than expected and the work has been pushed back untill after christmas. I have agreed that i will still create a website for them, but will not use it as my project.
Instead i have decided to create my own restaurant website. Using my own images and my own ideas for the design, layout and content for the site.
I have decided to do a website for a French restaurant as i have been to quite a few over the years.
I came up with the name 'Chez Alice' which means along the lines of Alice's House.
I want to go with a very modern look, minimalistic look.I first looked at fonts for the name of the restaurant, which i have shown in my portfolio.
My Chosen font is called 'Black Jack by Typadelic'.
I think its classy and shows the type of restaurant i want it to be.
I will use this font for the name of the restaurant and the page headings.
I also wanted to look having something on the page to define the restaurant as being French.
There are obvious foods that are typically french, such as: French Bread, French Fries, Frogs Legs, Snails, Cheese. etc.
Getting hold of some of these would be hard and i dont think an image would really work.
I also thought of places and landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Arc De Triomphe, and Le Louvre. I thought the Eiffel Tower would be the best as its the most well known and highly associated with the capital of France, Paris.
I also wanted to incorporate another image to use for the background. I though of using a lilly as its a French flower, the Fleur de Lis is the French symbol and mean lilly.
I have done a few scetches of the eiffel tower and lilly flowers to find a design i like, these are all in my Portfolio. For my two chosen images i am going to scan them onto the computer and make them look simplistic. For Example, for the eiffel tower i have used the simple outline:I think this looks more modern and classy.

The Grid
The Grid is something that is used to layout a website, to keep it in line and make it look professional.
Its easy to notice when websites have used a grid to set up a page.
For Example:
For my website I want to keep to the grid rule, but not as strictly. It's a restaurant website so there wont be a constant change of content. The grid makes changing content much easier.
Its easy to notice when websites have used a grid to set up a page.
For Example:
I like that the flower lines up with the Name and with the image and that all the images line up with each other.
I Think with the menu headers they need to also match up with the images, as they cross over. This would mean having less headers but I can add more content into the pages.
Ive moved the menu headers around so that fit in with the picture. I have taken away 'Wine List' which i will include in the 'Menu' page.
I think now it lines up it looks better and more professional.
Here is the page with the grid included.
Idea 3! Restaurant Website
My third idea is the one im most excited about! There
is a resturant local to my home which is being refurbished and being given a completly new look, the work starts in 2 weeks and will be finished in a month. My brother-in-law is the head cheif at the restaurant and after he mentioned they didnt have a website i quickly stepped in. The manager is very happy with the idea and wants to arrange a meeting to go over everything that is needed.
Such as:
Colour theme (background, text, links, images etc.)
Images (Restaurant interior and exterior)
Main links (Home, Menu, Location, Times, Offers, News etc.)
I have been looking at other websites for similar restaurants to see the style and layouts used.

Idea 2! Club Website
Idea 2
My second idea was to make a website for a local football club.
The club would really bennifit from a personal website, where they can add any news and information about new players, upcoming games, charity games etc.
My second idea was to make a website for a local football club.
I have very close contacts within the club and they are very happy for me to create a website, i have easy access and full permition to use any photos from the club.
The colour theme would follow their home and away kits, blue and orange and the site would contain all the information needed. Such as fixtures, results, tables, club events, news, photos etc.
Photo taken by myself.

Idea 1! Music Website
I have been thinking about different ideas for websites for my project for New Media
Idea 1
My first idea was to make a website for a music artist. Artist websites are constantly updated with news, new songs, media and upcoming gigs, which i though would be quite exciting to create. Ive created a webpage for an music artist before so i have done research into what they look like, what they would contain and different colour themes
Here are a few examples of the layouts used for artists websites:
The name of the band/artist is always the main object on the page, usually at the top, with the headers either above or below. The Header includes the main links in the website, such as Home, Music, Blog, News etc. There is usually a music player on the front page playing the latest tracks and information on how to download them. The front page offen includes videos of upcoming songs and information about how to follow them on various social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
